July 2020 is almost over but CoVID-19 is nowhere near its end despite world-wide join efforts. The loved ones are joining one other but under six-feet, in dark and often unnamed graves.

A majority of living population has a new demon to face now – depression. We have already lost many good souls to it. And just like Novel Coronavirus, depression too doesn’t care if one is healthy, rich, poor or sick. It attack and when given the chance, it took over and suck the life out of a happy person like a slow-poison.

Can we fight the Depression? Dr. Ayesha of an interesting blog whereizdonut, shared how she got herself out of the depression. She was kind enough to let us spread her words, in order to fight depression.

When I joined medical school I went through the biggest tragedy of my life. (But) You have to move on and become better. Learn from your mistakes and fix your life. Moving on is beautiful but being someone who was clinically diagnosed as a depressed person, I totally understand that moving on is difficult. Depression nearly kills you.

One of my teachers at DOW told me about this and this worked for me –

“Surah Ad-Dhuha” (the Cure of Depression)

Background: There was a time when Prophet Muhammad (saw) was expecting a “wahi” (revelation) and it didn’t arrive. At that time he went into depression.

Yes, the Holy Prophet had depression too! He told Ayesha (R.A) that maybe Allah is not happy with him or maybe he has displeased Allah or maybe he will never receive a wahi again. He went to a cave, started living there. He used to stay depressed. When his depression breached the limits, Jibrail (AS) was sent to him with SURAH AD-DHUHA.

Jibrail came with it in a rush and told the PROPHET (SAW) that ALLAH loves him no matter what. Jibrail recited the surah so so so fast so that it can calm down the heart of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

When my teacher told me this, I started reciting it every now and then with the faith that if it can cure Holy Prophet’s depression it can cure mine too! Alhamdolillah it helped.

The translation of it is beautiful! Allah indeed must’ve put Prophet (PBUH) through this so that we can know about it. SubhanAllah!

Swipe too see the verses with translation in the gallery below.

Sharing it because we all are going through some sort of crisis these days… everyone around is suffering and life has become such a roller coaster for us. There are more sad moments than happy ones.

I hope Allah blesses us with His mercy and take us out of this, asap! Ameen and may He heal everyone who’s suffering.

Sharing my biggest secret ever because the world needs it! -When I joined med school I went through the biggest tragedy of my life. It was always a secret because my teacher told me to keep it that way but since the world needs it (like i did), it had to be out. . . #depression #anxiety #mentalhealth #depressioninislam
